The group was first organized as an SCA chapter in August, 1978, and registered as the Shire of the Osprey in July of 1979. Arms were first passed in September, 1980.
Osprey received an augmentation of arms in June, 1989. The name was registered as the Barony of the Osprey in June of 1997.
